Mil Gracias

The Salvation Army of Las vegas wishes to thank everyone who participated in our bell ringing campaign during the 2010 Christmas season.

With the hard work of all the volunteers and staff members, this year’s campaign was a success and helps to continue with our social programs. We want to recognize some very special people who went above and beyond their call of duty to help with our fundraiser: Bill Oshima and Pat Patrick of Pendaries. In addition, The Salvation Army greatly appreciates all of the support that we received from the Noon Kiwanis, the Rotary Club, the members of the Morning Kiwanis, and the Cowboys football team at Highlands University.

Most importantly we would like to thank our very giving community who helped by contributing money to the kettles, the parents who took the time to teach their children the importance of helping other people in need, and the businesses who allowed us to ring the bell on their store fronts: Walmart and Walgreens.

As we reflect on the success of our kettle program this past season, we cannot overlook our “Angel Tree” project, as it was also very successful. We would also like to acknowledge the people of Las Vegas and the surrounding areas for their benevolent hearts as many of you selflessly brought gifts for the children who placed their Christmas wish on the “Angel Tree.” Our most grateful appreciation also goes to the volunteers who spent countless hours wrapping gifts, organizing our distribution for the children, and preparing food boxes for the families and seniors that were recipients of the “Angel Tree” project.

The roster goes on with names of amazing people that helped to make this year’s success possible: Dolline Garcia, Mary Baca, Linda Armijo, Dolores Gonzales, and Bruno Moser. Furthermore, we extend many thanks to the Woodmen of the World for their donation of gift cards to several children as you brought happiness to their Christmas day! Finally, we would like to thank the staff of G. L. Environmental and Memorial Middle School for their participation.

Along with all of our community programs this year, our food drive flourished with the help of teachers and students of Paul D. Henry Elementary, Robertson High School, West Las Vegas High School, and Don Cecilio Elementary. We would especially like to thank Donna Ortiz from Robertson High School for encouraging her students to give back to the community and help our organization. We also would like to thank Mrs. Rodriguez and her MESA Club from West Las Vegas for teaching her students the joy of giving in addition to their science curriculum.

Thank you all for your hard work, your donations and most of all your loving care.
May the Lord make your love to grow and overflow to each other and to anyone else, just as our love does toward you. I Thessalonians 3:12.
