It started modestly a scant six years ago as an organization to promote education and literacy in northern New Mexico. Today, it has grown manifold.
The Literacy Council of Northeastern New Mexico just concluded its Sixth Annual Literacy Fair, at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center, and attendance and participation broke records, making Saturday’s fair the largest ever.
The event drew 23 organizations, ranging from local service clubs to Carnegie and Donnelly libraries to public schools, Head Start, the Catholic Daughters and Books for Bikes.
