A sea of rippling muscles, etched-in details showcased by tanning and skimpy posing suits, will be on display this Saturday at the Fitness New Mexico and Musclemania Championships, a bodybuilding competition at Hard Rock Casino in Albuquerque.
Las Vegas’ Stephanie Trujillo-Gonzales will be among the competitors vying for prizes — and showing off the hard-won efforts of months of religious pre-contest dieting and daily workouts with free weights, machines and cardiovascular training.
Trujillo-Gonzales, 38, will battle for titles in the figure and bikini divisions for the 35-and-older age group. A wife and mother of two who works as a registered nurse in Las Vegas, she has been in pre-contest mode since November. She makes time for daily weight training sessions at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center and often runs stairs at Perkins Stadium. This is her first foray into competitive bodybuilding, although she has been working out regularly for several years.
Saturday’s show will be taped and broadcast at 1 p.m. June 25 on Albuquerque’s CW cable affiliate.
