Luna Community College softball players Jennifer Inocencio, Brandi Rodriguez and Tomasita Smith have been selected to play on America’s Team that will compete in the Dominican Republic this summer.

“Players are chosen on athletic ability, character and integrity as they will be ambassadors for softball, the college, community and America,” LCC spokesman Jesse Gallegos said in a news release.

The trio along with other college athletes will tour and compete in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Cabarete from July 27 to August 5.

All three are seeking support to offset some of the travel cost.

An account has been set up at Wells Fargo for those wishing to make donations. The account number is 2145440125. Alternately, donors can call Dion Rodriguez at 575-574-2796 or Elsie Trujillo at 575-956-3583. All donations will be appreciated, the players say.

The LCC softball team, which just completed its second season, is coached by Meredith Gilpin.
