Tuesday, Sept. 1 — New Mexico today submitted a $3.7 million request to the federal government for the first stage in its local war on poverty program. The money will be used to set up a 1,000-boy training camp near Las Vegas. The camp, which will eventually be used to train boys from throughout the Southwest, will have a staff of up to 150 persons, and will probably use Peace Corps trainees as instructors.
