Monday, May 20 — A rattlesnake Saturday ended the busy career of Cockleburr, the “miniature” horse, belonging to John Read, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Read, which many children in Las Vegas had ridden. Cockleburr, owned by the Reads for the past three years, was driven in the parade with a special pony cart, during the Cowboys’ Reunion last year. Saturday the horse was struck on the nose by a rattlesnake on a ranch east of Las Vegas. Although the family tried to save him with the use of anti-venom, the horse died.
