Tuesday, Feb. 12 — Prominent Las Vegas attorney and former New Mexico Supreme Court Justice W. Morris Shillinglaw Jr., age 53, died this morning at a local hospital following a brief illness. Shillinglaw was appointed to the State Supreme Court March 29, 1958 by Gov. Edwin L. Mechem. He was a practicing attorney, a  member of the San Miguel County, New Mexico State and the American Bar Association, and had served as attorney for the city of Las Vegas.
