Tuesday, Dec. 4 — The closing of some sawmills in the Las Vegas area trimmed 100 from the enrollment rolls during November where the number of jobs is now 7,000, said Edward V. Balcomb, executive director of the Employment Security Commission. However, remaining projects in the area are expected to remain stable. Forty-five have been hired by the U.S. Forest Service under the Public Works Act, and more hiring is anticipated after Jan. 1.
