Little League tourneys to begin Saturday

Boasting a robust schedule with an estimated five dozen games in a week, the District 4 Little League All-Star tournaments for baseball and softball get under way on Saturday morning at Rodriguez Park.

La Plaza Little League is this year’s district host for the 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 age groups in both sports.

In 9-10 baseball, teams from Las Vegas Little League, La Plaza, Mora, Clayton, Raton, Taos and Questa will vie for the title. In 10-11, Raton and Taos join LVLL and La Plaza for the tourney. In 11-12, the lineup includes LVLL, La Plaza, Springer, Clayton, Raton, Taos and Questa.

In softball, the 9-10 bracket has Las Vegas, La Plaza, Mora, Raton and Taos. The 10-11 draw is LVLL, Raton and Taos. And the 11-12 features LVLL, La Plaza, Raton and Taos.

The District 4 tourneys run through Saturday, July 18.

With the exception of 9-10 and 10-11 softball, only winners advance to the state tournaments. In 9-10 and 10-11 softball, top two make it to state.
