LETTER: The money is there

-A A +A

So West Las Vegas Schools are short $81,000 for transportation. Wonder if the “powers that be” ever consider streamlining, or even consolidating administrative services with their mirror organization at Las Vegas City Schools? It wouldn’t affect the funding formula for students at either district and would free up hundreds of thousands of dollars for actual education, or even $81,000 budget shortfalls.

High-minded rhetoric about education is one thing, but where an organization puts its money is more telling. Governor Richardson just recently stated that he believes the relationship problems between the faculty and the president at UNM is about too much money going to administration. We don’t appear to have similar concerns in Las Vegas. Our blinders are on and they’re staying on.
