Letter: Enlightened irresponsibility

As one of the uneducated, unenlightened elite, who for some reason does not know with absolute certainty when human life begins, I was surprised to learn that I was one of those anti-abortion people who are therefore “anti-women, anti-child, and pro-patriarchy.” Gosh, I always thought when a human fetus was allowed to come to term a human being was born, not Flipper or Rin-Tin-Tin. But what do I know, I’m only playing with half a deck according to Ms. Joan Krohn, because I oppose abortion.

I wish Ms. Krohn would’ve defined an “unplanned” pregnancy.  Apparently all the sexual education that has been part of our educational curriculum for these many years has not worked for some unfathomable reason. How in the world could you hold someone responsible for their actions if they had no idea of the potential consequences? Gee-willikers, what kind of signal would that send? That simply would not be right. Surely, as a society we can’t go down that road, especially in a society where “sexual expression is becoming freer.”

According to Ms. Krohn, it is not only easier to treat the symptom than the cause, but also the right thing to do. So I’m going to take a cue from her brilliant medieval insight and forget about those flu vaccinations and just deal with the symptoms. You can’t tell me us ruling males are intellectually inferior!

The unfortunate truth is we are helpless and held hostage to the whims of our inhumane patriarchal society, and the inexorable march to enlightened irresponsibility.
