I was a 13 year old, running through the cornfields on an isolated ranch in northeastern New Mexico when I began studying oil painting. In this unlikely setting, I began to be the artist that I am today. I’m referring to commitment, study, belief, production, teaching, promotion and even having to write a letter such as this. On three different occasions this summer I attempted to participate in our community as an artist and encountered serious inadequacies.
