State lawmakers approved a rule last week that its sponsor says is meant to exempt legislators’ email and other documents from disclosure through the state’s open records law.
House Concurrent Resolution 1, which was sponsored by House Minority Leader Donald Bratton, R-Hobbs, won final approval in the Senate shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
Pete Campos, of Las Vegas, drew statewide attention for being the only senator to vote against the measure, which was opposed by the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government.
