The state Public Education Department says Las Vegas City Schools isn’t eligible for emergency supplemental funding next year because its audits are late.
PED spokesman Larry Behrens told the Optic Tuesday in an email that state lawmakers passed legislation earlier this year requiring a school district to be up to date on its audits in order to receive the emergency funding.
“According to the State Auditor’s website, the most recent audit submitted by Las Vegas City Schools is (fiscal year) 10, at least two years behind,” Behrens said.
