The Las Vegas police officer who got into an accident over the weekend was cited Monday for failing to obey a stop sign, state police said.
State police Lt. Craig Martin said Officer Shawn Montoya didn’t adequately check that an intersection was clear before entering it. Martin said officers can go through stop signs when their emergency equipment is turned out but that they are held responsible for what happens. The state police determined that Montoya’s emergency lights and sirens were on.
