Las Vegas native Michael Coca Gallegos is slated to fight his second professional boxing match Friday in Las Vegas, Nev.

Gallegos, 31, will box as part of a card at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. His announced opponent is Lawrence Hughes.

The card is headlined by a heavyweight battle between Oliver McCall and Lance Whitaker. Other bouts are cruiserweights Arthur Williams vs. Victor Barragan, junior welterweights Juan Heraldez vs. Ivan Diaz, and heavies Elijah McCall vs. Andre Carthron.

Gallegos, who originally trained with Charlie Gallegos of Las Vegas, has fought as part of the Albuquerque Police Athletic League. He now makes his home in Rio Rancho.  As an amateur boxer, he won the U.S. Men’s and Golden Gloves New Mexico tournaments. He lost his pro debut via technical knockout on Aug. 28 in Tucson, Ariz.

Gallegos is an alumnus of West Las Vegas High and Luna Community College. His parents are Joyce Garduño and Martin David Gallegos (stepfather), both of whom worked for the Las Vegas Police Department.

Note: Las Vegan Amanda Crespin is set to fight Dec. 4 at Isleta Casino as part of the Holly Holm-Melissa Hernandez undercard. Crespin debuted in August’s pro card in town.
