I was sorry to hear about Judge Hern’s passing on to our real home above the clouds. It reminded me of a story I once heard about how a judge and a preacher both died on the day. When they got to the pearly gates, St. Peter told them there was no room and they had to wait in Purgatory. Years passed and finally St. Peter called them back, only to inform them that there was only room for one. The judge pleaded to be let in, but St. Peter replied, “It took all these years, and every argument I could use, to convince the angels to let the preacher in.
