Why was this RMAC football game so strange? HU had players in multiple positions, just like it was in the 60's, when players went both ways! The 'Pokes suffered their third straight loss of the season, 42-14, giving up 7 first-half fumbles, recovering 6 of 7, and 24 unanswered points to the Chadron State Eagles. These early fumbles were extremely crucial and determined the outcome of the game. The 'Pokes could manage only ONE red zone intrusion the entire contest.

In all fairness to the Cowboys who are decimated by injuries, particularly quarterback, All-State selection CLINT BERNARD, Melrose, NM was inserted as the Cowboys signal-caller. He also played linebacker. JORDAN CAMPBELL was linebacker, running back AND punter! CAMPBELL is also being touted as the best defensive player of the RMAC.

Chadron State Eagles head coach gave kudos to Highlands defense, commenting: "They (HU) have a great, great defense."

Too bad the HU offense could only manage 206 total yards, about 45% of their normal output. Yes, it was a very strange football game indeed!
