Dido, the queen of Carthage, is swept off her feet by Aeneas, the Trojan hero on his way to found the Roman Empire -- with disasterous results, of course. All the characters and the chorus will advance the plot in song (and in English), as the Highlands University El Coro de la Tierra Alta and guests perform the baroque opera "Dido and Aeneas" by the british composer Henry Purcell.
Dido will be sung by Autumn Woods, Aeneas by Michael Rascon, and Belinda by Karliz de Marco. Andre Garcia-Nuthmann will conduct and Linda King accompany. The stage director is Don Evans and the corriographer is Trevontae Harris. Costumes by Chris Jordan.
Ilfeld Auditorium 3:00 p.m., Sunday April 6. Tickets are $5, free for students with ID.
