The New Mexico Highlands University Madrigal Choir presents a production of the Dido and Aeneas opera at 3 p.m. Sunday in Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.
Dido and Aeneas is a tragic opera written by Baroque era English composer Henry Purcell that was performed for the first time in 1688. It tells the stormy love story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero Aeneas.
Dido and Aeneas is considered one of Purcell’s foremost theatrical works and is in three acts. The opera is set in ancient Greece.
