HU Roundballers Sure Like To Make Games Close!

Give credit where credit is due...the HU Cowboys deserved this win, but they sure like to make it exciting AND close, winning in the last seconds, 84-81, over Western State College of Colorado Mountaineers and Alex Hart's double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds). The 'Pokes outside perimeter shooting (53.8% on 3's), and four players shooting double figures (Marcus Williams 24,Momcilo Latinovic 17, Billy Austin 15, and Mike Moody 10) made the difference. Western State made some valiant comebacks; down by 7 at halftime, they closed the gap a few times, and finally tying it at 81-81 with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

During this 2-minute period, Highlands made four consecutive turnovers, giving Western State a golden opportunity to win, but they couldn't convert. Highlands Lionel Coleman was fouled and made 1-2 from the charity stripe to break the tie,  82-81 and Billy Austin added two foul shots to seal the win,  84-81.

What was spectacular during this game was Marcus Williams five steals and the guarding of Alex Hart by Billy Austin.  That was a show unto itself!
