Averaging 168 yards in penalties per game! Yet on the other hand, they FORCE 94 yards per game...How can a Division II college football squad have a WINNING TRADITION with those numbers?

Previously HU had nearly 500 yards total offense per game. Last evening in their 30-24 Homecoming loss to the Adams State Grizzlies the 'Pokes total offense netted 266 yards, just barely above 50% of their average! And an unheard of NO FIRST DOWNS the second half!

But one of the key turning points in this game? The 'Pokes Jordan Campbell punting the ball back to the Grizzly 3 yard line. A HU personal foul moved the ball 15 yards, and with 3rd down and 25, Adams State moved the football 95 yards in less than four downs  to tie the game, 24-24, forcing overtime.

Again, a key HU fumble in their first overtime possession gave the Grizzlies the opportunity to score within the red zone. Concluding, this is a GOOD HU football team, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot with their penalties! The next few games with Chadron (away), nationally-ranked Univ. Nebraksa/Kearney and Colorado State University, Pueblo will determine if the 'Pokes have a winning or losing season.
