Those who attend tonight’s West Las Vegas band production will be treated to a visual feast in addition to great music.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the Frank Herrera Complex on  the West Las Vegas campus.

The band will be using black lights for its artistic Glow in the Dark show.

Under the direction of Jose Muñoz, the band — consisting of high school and middle school students — will play numerous tunes as the group moves in the darkness, creating various designs. The idea for the fundraiser came from half-time shows done at college and professional football games. The band has been practicing for weeks.

“The performance is open to everyone since music has no age, and we are adding the visual effect of glowing in the dark,” Muñoz said.
Wednesday evening’s performance is a fundraiser for the band.

Muñoz said he is planning on taking 49 students to a band clinic in Colorado Springs, Colo., during the spring, and all funds raised at the performance will be used for this trip.

Not only will the performance feature the band, but the flag group and dance troupe will also join in on the fun.

Advanced tickets for the performance are $4 per adult, $2 per student, and kids 5 and under pay $1.

Ticket prices increase $1 when purchased at the gate at the performance. Tickets may be purchased prior to the event at the band room on the campus of West Las Vegas High School.
