Albuquerque pro boxer Holly Holm may be coming to Las Vegas, with some help from the city.
On Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council approved a request from Fresquez Productions for $15,000 to help sponsor a Holm fight set for early September. Her rival hasn’t been announced.
The money will come from a portion the city’s lodger’s taxes, which are assessed to motel bills.
The council voted 3-1 for the $15,000; Councilwoman Diane Moore dissented. Moore said she would rather the issue go through the lodger's tax board first.
