Three New Mexico Highlands wrestlers are among the 2012-13 NCAA Division II All-Academic Wrestling Teams announced at the recent NCAA Division II National Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
The NMHU wrestlers selected are Easton Hargrave, a human performance and sport major with a 3.57 grade point average; Igor Gomzin, an accounting major with a 3.88 GPA; and Justin Rockhill, a forestry major with a 3.26 GPA.
All three wrestlers will be returning to the team next season.
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he needs to have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. He must also be in at least his second full year at his school and be a varsity member on his team.
Justin Rockhill took fourth place at the RMAC and Super Region IV Tournament and went on to wrestle at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
Igor Gomzin finished in fifth place at the RMAC and Super Region IV Tournament but just missed out on a trip to nationals.
Easton Hargrave was also one of the more competitive wrestlers for the Cowboys and head coach Doug Moses during the 2012-13 season.
