Children at Paul D. Henry Elementary held their annual Christmas program at Mike Marr Gym last week singing songs of the season and showing some pretty fancy dance steps. Principal Aylene Griego acted as master of ceremonies.

Band director Wallace Sanchez got things going as he directed the fifth-grade band in a Christmas medley.

Choir director Mike Campbell directed the fifth-grade choir as they sang “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Up on the House Top.”

A Hawaiian Christmas was the theme for the special program students as they danced to “Mele Kalikimaka,” which is the translation for merry Christmas. The kids wore grass skirts and the traditional Hawaiian flower leis. The children also performed “Twist and Shout.”

Music teacher Benny Lucero played the guitar as fourth-graders sang “Winter Wonderland” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” He accompanied third-graders singing “Las Maanitas” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.”

Second-grade classes impressed the large crowd of parents and friends with “Electric Slide” “Cotton-Eyed Joe,” and the “Cha-Cha Slide”

First-graders flapped their arms and bounced around the dance floor as they performed the always-popular “Chicken Dance” and sang “Feliz Navidad.”
