The Hackers and DB’s Milkmen took a step closer to the city league men’s softball championship on Tuesday by beating a pair of rivals.

The Hackers, ranked No. 1 in the men’s division with a 13-1 regular season record, bludgeoned the Louisville Chuggers 22-0 on Monday, then extinguished the Blaze 20-5 on Tuesday, avenging their lone defeat.

Meanwhile, the Milkmen woke up the Dream Team 17-7 on Monday, then toppled Tecolote 19-7 the next night.

Hackers and Milkmen square off this coming Monday evening in a tournament semifinal, with the victor to play whomever has emerged from the losers bracket by Tuesday.

Monday’s Hackers-Milkmen contest is set for 7:30 p.m. at Rodriguez softball complex off Grant Street.

Tuesday’s championship game is 7:30 p.m., with an “if” game immediately following.

In other tournament play this week, The Best topped the Buzzards 21-11 in an elimination game.

Note: The women’s division tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 18. The AVRH Scrubs (12-2) have clinched the No. 1 seed.
