The Tecolote Land Grant has prevailed in its appeal against a family who had won a lower court ruling in its bid to get ownership of part of the grant.
The family’s attorney has vowed an appeal.
The case, brought by several members of the Montoya family, sought to reassign ownership of nearly 20,000 acres of the land grant from the community of Tecolote to the Montoyas’ private ownership.
District Judge Daniel A. Sanchez earlier ruled in favor of the Montoyas, and the Tecolote Land Grant board appealed.
