As promised, Gov. Susana Martinez will be in Las Vegas Tuesday to sign the capital outlay bill that sets aside $10 million for the city of Las Vegas’s Bradner Dam expansion project.
The signing is scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Plaza Park gazebo. However, in the event of inclement weather, the signing will be moved to the Council chambers at City Hall, 1700 North Grand Avenue.
The Bradner Dam project was the city’s top priority during the Legislative session that ended last month. The city had been seeking $16 million for the project, and many area residents and businesses wrote letters of support to the governor and state lawmakers.
“We’re just honored,” Mayor Alfonso Ortiz said of the governor’s visit, and he invited local residents to attend the signing to show their appreciation to the governor and state lawmakers for the funding.
“The governor has been so helpful with the Bradner Dam situation,” Ortiz said.
The Bradner project will triple the city’s current water storage capacity.
