Highlands University students are rallying around the college’s regent chairman Javier Gonzales for Congress, while establishment political forces are backing another yet-to-be announced candidate, Public Regulation Commission chairman Ben Lujan Jr.
Gonzales told the Optic that if he does enter the race for the 3rd Congressional district, support for his run wouldn’t come from the political establishment. He was referring to a gathering earlier in the day where many of Las Vegas’ elected officials threw their support behind Lujan Jr.
