FISHING REPORT, May 7
Charette Lakes: Fishing was good using Power Bait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on perch.  
Cimarron River: Water flow below Eagle Nest on Monday was 28 cfs. Trout fishing was good using Panther Martins, elk hair caddis, Cimarron specials, Cimarron worms, salmon eggs and worms. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was fair using assorted spinners, salmon eggs and Power Bait.
Conchas Lake: Fishing for smallmouth bass was fair to good using tubes, jigs, jerk baits and senkos. Fishing for catfish was slow to fair using liver and nightcrawlers. A few white bass were taken by anglers using sassy shad and swim baits.
Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was very good using Power Bait, worms, salmon eggs and homemade dough bait. The stream flow is quite low.
Monastery Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait, homemade dough bait, salmon egg-corn combinations and Pistol Petes for trout.
Morphy Lake: Trout fishing was very good using nightcrawlers, Power Bait, homemade dough bait, cheese, corn, salmon eggs and spinners.
Pecos River: Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 79 cfs.Trout fishing was fair using elk hair caddis, worms, salmon eggs, copper John Barrs and spinners.
Rio Mora: Stream flow near Terrero on Monday was 20 cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms and salmon eggs.
Santa Rosa Lake: The lake has reopened to boating but the launch area is undeveloped and boating is restricted to no wake speed only. Fishing was described as sporadic this past week coinciding with weather changes and wind. A few walleye and crappie were caught by anglers using curly tail grubs, nightcrawlers and minnows. A few smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using tubes, jerk baits and nightcrawlers.
Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was fair using corn and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species with the exception of one catfish caught by an angler using worms.  
Ute Lake: Fishing was good using senkos, jerk baits, tubes and jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was very good trolling Flicker Shad and Bombers for white bass. A few were also taken on grubs and minnows. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and crank baits for walleye. Surface water temp was in the high 50s to low 60s.
