CONCHAS LAKE: Fishing for walleye was fair for anglers using jig and minnow combinations and crank baits worked deep. Most of the walleye were taken at depths of 25 to 40 feet. Fishing was fair using top water lures, tubes, crank baits and spinner baits for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using liver and minnows for catfish. We had no reports on other species.
COYOTE CREEK: Fishing was slow.
LOS PINOS: Trout fishing was good again this past week for anglers using salmon eggs, worms and copper john barrs.
MAXWELL LAKES: We had no reports from anglers this week. Maxwell Lakes close for the season on Oct. 31.
MCALLISTER LAKE: There has been a fish kill on the lake and there are no plans to restock the lake with trout at this time. The lake closes for the season on Oct. 31.
MONASTERY LAKE: Trout fishing was fair to good for anglers using corn, salmon eggs and power bait.
MORPHY LAKE: Trout fishing was fair for anglers using salmon eggs, power bait, spinners and Pistol Petes. Morphy Lake closes for the season on Oct. 31.
PECOS RIVER: Water flow near the town of Pecos as of Monday morning was 34cfs. Fishing was very good for anglers using small red and black copper john barrs and small pheasant tail nymphs for a mix of brown and rainbow trout. The best reports came from anglers fishing below Cowles.
SPRINGER LAKE: We had no reports from anglers. The lake closes for the season Oct. 31.
STORRIE LAKE: Trout fishing picked up with the cooler weather and was reported as very good by anglers using power bait and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species.
UTE LAKE: Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good for anglers using top water lures and drop shot rigs. A few bass were also taken by anglers using spinner baits. Good catches were reported by anglers fishing the Ute Creek arm and the Canadian arm of the lake. Fishing was good using jig and minnow rigs in 40 to 50 feet of water for walleye. Fishing was good using liver, dough bait and worms for catfish. A few crappie were taken by anglers using minnows and fishing at night.
SANTA ROSA LAKE: Fishing was fair to good using tubes, spinner baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Anglers fishing for bass also caught a few walleye but the better walleye bite was in the evening hours for anglers using grubs and sassy shad on the flats.
