Archaeologist Maria Garcia is the new supervisor of Santa Fe National Forest. She succeeds Daniel Jiron in overseeing five ranger districts on 1.6 million acres on the northern New Mexico forest. She has worked in various jobs for the U.S. Forest Service. Garcia began working for the Forest Service in 1989 as an archaeologist on the Carson National Forest in New Mexico.
