This letter is in response to the tongue lashing given to the RHS FFA students at the recent Las Vegas City School board meeting. First of all I would like to clarify with Ms. Gloria Lovato-Pacheco that the money the students used was not given to the students by the city school board.
Rather, that money was raised by the FFA students, parents and extended family members in order for these students to represent Robertson High School, the city of Las Vegas as well as the state of New Mexico at the National Convention.
These students and families fund-raise by selling burgers at the county fair, holding bingos, raffles and selling fruit in order to attend these conventions.
It goes without saying that the FFA students as well as their sponsor, Mr. Thomas Clay, should be highly commended as to the ethics they have learned from being members of this group.
