It’s fall again, and several refuge ponds currently have sufficient water to provide safe harbor for waterfowl; calls of Sandhill Cranes are heralding the annual migration of wintering birds.
Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge, located on state highway 281, just east of Las Vegas, will be open each of the first four Sundays in November from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Traditional Annual Fall Flight Festival featuring a 4 1/2 mile self-guided auto drive. All events at the refuge are free.
