If you’ve ever had a desire to be on the big or small screen, this could be your opportunity.

The Longmire television series and a feature film titled The Homesman, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones, will be looking for extras at an open background casting call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at Best Western Plus Montezuma Inn & Suites, 2020 Grand Ave.

The Longmire series  filmed in an around Las Vegas last year, and filming is beginning for it’s second season.

Jon Hendry, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 480 agent, noted that Longmire had the highest rated launch of any cable TV series.

He said casting directors are looking for a wide assortment of people to be extras on Longmire, everyone from children to seniors.

The Homesman is a Western period piece starring Jones and other high profile actors. Hendry said that because it is a period piece, casting directors are looking for specific things in the extras they select.

“One thing they’re particularly looking for is men with mustaches,” he said.

According the Internet Movie Database, The Homesman is about a claim jumper and a pioneer woman teaming up to escort three insane women from Nebraska to Iowa. Among the starts who will be appearing in the film are Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank and Tim Blake Nelson, according to IMDb.

“This is two right now,” Hendry said of projects that will be shooting in Las Vegas. “It’s a real renaissance of film up in Las Vegas. I don’t think we’re done this year with movies that are coming to Las Vegas, and these are the two specific ones right now... There are some other interesting possibilities.”

As for Longmire, Hendry said it could be like the hit television show Breaking Bad, which shot in Albuquerque for four or five years.
