SANTA FE — A former state official is staying out of prison despite violating probation on his felony convictions.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that state prosecutors wanted former Public Regulation Commission member Jerome Block Jr. sent to prison for failing a drug test. The 37-year-old Block is on probation because of convictions for fraudulent use of a state credit card, violating campaign finance laws and embezzling public funds during his 2008 campaign.
