A man who followed up years as a teacher and coach by serving as an officer in the New Mexico Activities Association has died.
Mario Martinez, formerly an associate director with the NMAA — the organization that oversees sports and other competitive extracurricular activities in the state’s high schools — died on Sunday after a lengthy illness.
Martinez had been a longtime teacher and coach in the state, most recently at Fort Sumner.
