The Mora County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Amos Espinoza to the vacant sheriff’s post.
Espinoza, a native of Mora County, is a volunteer with the Guadalupita fire department and has previously worked as a deputy in the department, said Mora County Manager Rebecca P. Montoya.
She said Espinoza thanked the Commission at the meeting and expressed that he is looking forward to stepping into the position.
Montoya said Espinoza has been a certified law enforcement officer since June 2010.
