Enrollment has dropped at both West Las Vegas School District and Las Vegas City Schools, with the two districts having a combined 68 fewer students than this time last year.
The biggest drop occurred at West, which has 59 fewer students this year. East has nine fewer students. The figures are based on the 40th day counts each district compiled.
The drops might be linked to the decline in the area population. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, San Miguel County’s population dropped to 29,393 from 30,126 in 2000 – a decline of 733 people.
