New Mexico Highlands University presents the Earth Chronicles Project: New Mexico art exhibit in Burris Hall Gallery with an artist reception at 5 p.m. this Thursday. The gallery is at 903 National Ave.

Following the reception, a documentary that features the New Mexico artists in the exhibit will be shown at 7 p.m. in the university’s Ilfeld Auditorium.

The Earth Chronicles Project is an ongoing documentary series and accompanying art exhibits aimed at preserving ecology and culture through art. The acclaimed documentaries have aired on PBS and other stations. New Mexico is the third state to be featured in the series.

Lamy, N.M. environmental artist and educator Fran Hardy and filmmaker Bob Demboski, her husband, established the Earth Chronicles Project in 2009. The two co-produce the documentaries.

“This is a very diverse multimedia art show that takes a broad-based, passionate look at New Mexico’s art, ecology, and culture,” said Hardy, who curated the exhibit. “We’re trying to inspire the public to help preserve all three.”
