Jake Ulibarri hit two doubles and a triple and Andy Gabaldon and Gilbert Garcia had strong outings as the West Las Vegas baseball team opened its season with a split in Socorro on Saturday.
The host Warriors nipped West 4-3 in the first game, but with Pancho Caro on the mound, the Dons got even with a 12-0 shutout in game two.
“Overall, I’m very happy with the team. Once the butterflies were out, they all did great,” said Ryan Gabaldon, who made his debut as WLV head coach.
