Dons fall to top-rated Sundevils; Lady Dons advance

Española Valley outscored West Las Vegas 28-13 in the decisive second quarter to blow open a close game in the first round of Capital High’s Al Almendariz Classic Thursday in Santa Fe.

The end result was a 77-55 win for the Sundevils, the top-ranked team in Class 4A.

Turnovers and poor shooting — particularly at the free-throw line — hurt the Dons.
