Dons fall in Los Alamos

In a final tuneup before the onset of the district schedule, West Las Vegas pushed Class 4A Los Alamos on the road before fading in the second half of a 65-41 loss on Tuesday evening.

The Dons, who were led by forward Joe Ortiz (11 points), trailed just 25-19 at the break.

But the Hilltoppers pulled away in the third period and led by 20 going into the final frame.

Coach Ernie Rodriguez now gets his Dons ready for district games (Thursday at Raton, after this issue went to press, then Saturday against Robertson at Gillie Lopez Gym.)
