District soccer slate nears

Amber Yara and Caitlin Diefendorf both scored hat tricks (three goals each) in the Robertson girls’ soccer team’s 7-0 shutout of Santa Fe Indian on Tuesday in the City Different.

Freshman Victoria Valdez also netted a goal, and Diefendorf had two assists in the Lady Cardinal win.

Unofficially, Diefendorf leads Class 3A girls’ soccer in scoring with 52 points — 23 goals and six assists. Yara is second on the scoring list with 37 points — 14 goals and nine assists.

Robertson was to play Taos on Thursday as the team digs into the district portion of the schedule.

Robertson boys’ soccer broke into the scoring column but lost to Class 5A Clovis 11-2 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals registered six shots on goal, with the Wildcat keepers James Smart and Orion Garcia turning away four.Ian Parks scored the first Cardinal goal, getting an assist from Brandon Trujillo. Later, Michael Salas also connected.

Luke Bussen, Juan Carrera, Joshua Otero and Darrian Whiting scored two goals apiece for Clovis; Rojan Agandi, Alejandro Medina and Preston Underwood added one apiece.

RHS is scheduled to host Taos on Saturday afternoon.
