Democrat Martin Heinrich leads NM US Senate race

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Democrat Martin Heinrich took an early lead Tuesday over Republican Heather Wilson in the race for New Mexico's U.S. Senate seat.

Heinrich was running stronger than Wilson in the vote-rich Albuquerque area in returns from early voting.

The winner of the race will succeed Democrat Jeff Bingaman, who is retiring after 30 years.
