Las Vegas professional boxer Arturo “El Toro” Crespin will make his long-awaited return to the ring this coming weekend.
Crespin is due to fight Charles Alderete in a six-round middleweight bout on Friday at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Albuquerque.
For ticket information, locals can contact Carlos Crespin, 429-4068. Tickets range from $25 to $75.
The fight is part of a card headlined by an eight-round welterweight battle between Josh “Pitbull” Torres and Marcus Brashears.
Joaquin Zamora, a boxer with ties to the Pecos area, is also on the undercard in a six-round light middleweight skirmish with Bernardo Guereca.
Crespin, 23, hasn’t fought since he scored a sixth-round technical knockout of Jose Garcia (3-5-1) this past October in Albuquerque. He’d been slated to fight on a couple different occasions since then, but both contests fell through for different reasons.
Crespin is 8-2-1 as a pro, with three knockout victories.
Friday’s matchup will mark the second time Crespin and Alderete have met in the ring.
Crespin won an eight-round unanimous decision over Alderete in November 2010 as part of a Crespin Promotions event held at West Las Vegas’ Gillie Lopez Gym.
Alderete, an Albuquerque native, is 1-2; his most recent match was a four-round loss to the debuting Jesus Correa Jr. by unanimous decision in April 2012.
