A 21-year-old Las Vegas woman was airlifted to University Hospital in Albuquerque after being found unconscious and not breathing,  behind the wheel of her 1997 Honda Accord at the intersection of Williams Drive and Seventh Street early Sunday morning.
Jamie Martinez allegedly failed to stop at the intersection and crossed both north and southbound lanes before jumping a curb and crashing into a concrete barrier, said Commander Mack Allingham of the Las Vegas Police Department.

Airbags in the vehicle had deployed and Martinez was taken to Alta Vista Regional Hospital, where she was then transferred by helicopter to the hospital in Albuquerque.

She has since been treated and released, Allingham said.

Martinez, who reportedly lives in Las Vegas but whose driver’s license shows an Albuquerque address, was issued a summons to appear in Las Vegas Municipal Court, where she faces charges of drunken driving, possession of an open container of alcohol and reckless driving, Allingham said.

Police discovered several empty beer cans and bottles in the vehicle and are awaiting the outcome of a blood test to determine if Martinez was drunk at the time of the wreck.

Allingham noted that family members have told  investigating officers that Martinez had a history of suffering seizures.
