Cowgirl track fourth in RMAC indoor meet

New Mexico Highlands’ women captured fourth place in this past weekend’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference indoor championships held in Kearney, Neb.

It was a big weekend for All-American Angella Graham, who broke an event and venue record in the indoor pentathlon with 3,644 points. Graham won the long jump (18-9.25) and triple jump (39-10) and qualified for nationals provisionally in both events. She was fourth in the high jump (5-3.75).

Shantella McCoy was third in the long jump (18-7.75). Fiona James was third in the 400 (59.13). Danisha Alexander was third in the weight throw (51-1.5); Lydia Aligaz was eighth (46-8). Shaneika Rochester took third in the 60-meter dash (7.69); Qiauna Fair was eighth (7.93). James and Rochester ran sixth and seventh in the 200 with times of 25.83 and 25.85. Carolina Garcia placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run (18:50). CiCi Cordova was seventh in the pole vault (11-1). Danisha Phipps was sixth in the pentathlon (2,856).

The 1,600-meter relay team (James, Graham, LaShondra Ray, Alexis Jackson) took second in 3:59.61.
