The smiles are back for New Mexico Highlands University’s volleyball players.
Playing with visible enthusiasm, the Cowgirls opened their home schedule Tuesday night with a rare sweep of intrastate rival Eastern New Mexico, 25-12, 25-17, 25-17.
Among Highlands’ players — who endured a 4-24 campaign last year but have won five of 10 this season — he mood was light even as the play was disciplined.
“It’s good to see smiles on their faces,” said first-year head coach Jim Deisler.
